Developments in the British labor crisis appeared to be the single influence on the Stock Exchange yesterday. During the early hours prices declined moderately and trading was less active than usual. Later, after the British Premier's speech, stocks were sold in large quantities, forcing some issues down 2 to nearly 10 points.

Evidently the internal situation in England is far worse even than the cables have intimated. How the impending tie-up may affect the mines, railroads, cables, shipping, , has been told, but it may go further than that. It may affect the Walker Cup matches and the British amateur and open championships.

CHICAGO, May 3. -- Uneasiness over the British strike situation, with a sharp break in the stock market in New York, brought about a decline of 3 1/8 to 4 7/8 cents in wheat values after an early bulge, and the finish was about the bottom, with net losses of 1 3/4 to 3 cents, with July leading.
